About this Collection
Simulation is a crucial methodology in teaching that bridges the gap between theory and practice in medical education. Simulation-based medical education is a rapidly expanding field that includes teaching using low-fidelity models, task trainers, high-fidelity manikins, simulated patients, and virtual and augmented reality.

Through simulation, a controlled learner-centered environment is created in which practitioners of all levels can learn or practice skills. Students, house officers, and practicing clinicians are able to expand their skill set through experiential learning, feedback, and reflection of their performance. This cycle can be repeated until competence is reached. Simulation-based training protects patient welfare and supports learner achievement. Increased practice and learning from mistakes in a simulated environment is believed to reduce occurrences of errors in real life and improve medical professionals' performance.

This collection is devoted to publishing simulation-based educational content, including research articles, brief reports, reviews, and opinion articles. We encourage submissions from all healthcare fields, including those that train physicians, nurses, dentists, veterinarians, and the associated paraprofessionals.
